Then upgraded the tv wanted a box with HDMI walked in the local office said I would like to exchange this for an HDMI model, they opened the cabinet and grabbed me one. 3rd one died (no idea not in a cabinet, just would not stop recording at the end of a program would have 6 or 7 hour recordings), called them up and was told take it in and exchange it walked in local office and exchanged no problem. Maybe this is just Mason City and we have an over abundance of them. Just as a note a friend of mine activated the hd/dvr service and had next day hook up with a nice shiny new Pace hd/dvr box. There is something wrong with this situation, maybe they just need to manage them better.

Your friend was lucky. They have HD equipment for service calls. If your DCT dies it will be replaced. The problem is all of the HD DCTs are reserved for service calls so you can wait for months trying to get one installed.

They can't tell you when you're going to get one. When they get enough of them they go down the list, until then the list is dormant.

anon : It sounds like ive had more problems then any of you so far. My office is kinda bad. I went in two months ago to get an HD receiver. The lady said their was a waiting list. She had a stack of papers in front of here that she said was the list. I asked to know how far down the list I was, SHE WOULD NOT TELL ME. I asked her to count it, and she said she would not. Thats terrible service. I went back a couple of weeks ago to see if my box had come in yet or not. turns out she hadn't even put me on the list at all. All of this after I had to wait three weeks for cable instillation. If I wasn't a nice guy I would be filling a class action law suit against mediacom because they are a monopoly here. Is there anyway to speed up getting one of these stupid things?

When I went back the last time they put me on the list to get a dvr. When they said that there is also a waiting list for that, I said whatever was faster. He said that they would take the same amount of time, but wouldnt switch me back to just a regular hd box. All of this makes me want to cry!

I went to the office here in Des Moines and exchanged it for an HD model. Non-DVR though, because I don't plan on getting that service. I was surprised they had any at all though given what I've heard here and what I was told on the phone when I called.
dead_poet : I have my brand-new shiny HD TV but I've been waiting a MONTH for Mediacom to hook me up with their HD box. It's very frustrating to now have HD capability but not being able to receive the signal due to the entire STATE being backordered on these things.

That's not even the half of it. Apparently I'm on a waiting list to an invisible pretend company. "Invisible" meaning I can't call and ask where I am on the list because everywhere I look for my local Mediacom provider lists only the national 800 number. I check the phone book, Internet, Chamber of Commerce Web site and they don't even list an address. Just the 800-number again. I just have to assume I'm on a list somewhere because I told Mediacom I needed the box. Think they could check where I am on the list? Nope. They don't have access to the list and it's impossible for me to inquire about my position on it.

Plus, I'm supposed to pick this thing up if/whenever it comes in. My question is...where? I already mentioned there's no address for these people. Maybe if I wish it hard enough they will appear.

Somebody please help me! I really don't even know what this box looks like or what I'm looking for. Is it possible to find one somewhere else?
