Re: This is a big rip off!!!

Considering a DS3 would cost $2,000/mo+ the $150 doesn't sound so bad. Then again $150/mo sounds expensive when you don't understand what bandwidth really cost.

I think you meant to say that 150 dollars a month sounds expensive when you do understand what bandwidth really costs. Right?

Sorry, but raw bandwidth is dirt cheap, it's delivering it to consumers using expensive means (copper/coax) that is expensive.

Comcast's costs to upstream that 50mbit burst is very inexpensive, their costs to offer that speed connection over their coax network to thousands of users without setting caps and throttling is very expensive.

No, the REAL cost of bandwidth includes the delivery. Stop comparing bandwidth pricing from carriers and webhosting companies that whore out every bit of bandwidth they have.

I'm not comparing web hosting companies, but thanks for that completely incorrect stab in the dark.

50/50 connection
60 dollars a month
500GB allowance (overages allowed)

Services like this can (and do) happen anywhere your favorite cable and phone company don't sue to keep the status quo.

Thanks for trying though. It sucks realizing just how bad our incumbent duopolies take advantage of us though and try to get us to believe the crap you're spewing.

Utopia is not doing as well as planned. Last I heard, they are just barely breaking even. From that we can conclude that the cost to provide a 50/50 connection is greater than 60/mo.

And if the Utopian Horn Of Plenty is as you suggest, why do they need to cap at 500GB?
