No its not true. Astroweb has nothing to do with what you download.

But you may still go blind....

Astraweb may not have anything to do with it....but paypal sometimes does. Several providers will not allow adult group downloads due to Paypals "no adult" policy. These providers have a separate group list for paypal customers. I believe it all has to do with the agreement the provider has with paypal themselves. When we started accepting Paypal, we had no problems with offering adult groups...heck we even advertise it ...others..not so lucky I guess.

I signed up for the $11/month Astraweb deal using Paypal three days ago. Doing a quick search for "playboy" in my newsreader shows:

alt.binaries.full.post.verified.playboy
alt.binaries.multimedia.erotic.playboy
alt.binaries.pictures.centerfolds.playboy
alt.mag.playboy

I know not everyone considers Playboy to be porn but if they were going to block Paypal users from getting to it, seems like groups with playboy in the title would definitely be blocked.

The thing with astrawebs situation is its not astraweb themselves offering paypal its actually their payment processor 2C0.

Precisely...money talks I guess. Although Giganews also takes paypal and has no group restrictions on it.

Have you confirmed that? I know that Usenet-News has that policy, but I did not know about Astraweb.

Just in case anyone is interested, but NewsDemon also blocks access to 'adult' groups if you pay with Paypal, at least this was the policy last year. It's not in their FAQs but I learned about it after signing up last year.
