Yeah well fine this was AFTER STORM I KNOW much bigger.... and again Ghost... you know a;l about Wildfires but frequently WRONG about HUrricanes as yo have been RADICALLY so early where you wanted to say doom and gloom for BOTH Gustave and IKE as far as the Keys go.

Long timeers here knew better... not that many I have never heard talk about evacuating were ready to for IKE kept the path up... but then again still 2+ days out was so clear at best it would just graze us.

You wanted to say doom and gloom when it was still 5 or more days out... like when it even got to TS.

You have nothing but oil pltforms as a block... as much as we are told to politically hate it, KW is BLESSED to have Cuba as a major blocker,,, most south of there tends to stays there especialy if coming from the east... if strong they tend to go up the easy Yucatan-Cuba slot, or hit MX.

Unless a weak meandering storm like FAY, where were the bulls eye for, but actually a good thing as it was not yet fully formed and still moving right along. (We saw nothing past the center/eye... no back side)

Likely these aren't surf boards (other than storms no reason to have one here) but likely sail boards without sails.

And any one that has ever been here knows we rarely see waves over INCHES.

Should anyone in NOLA still have and doubts we are the better part of 200 miles away inside a reef, yet those waves, and have upwards of 60+ mph gusts, and 20-40 relatively sustained wind.

And much like you 2 month later, we were nailed by Wilma... 70% OF THE ISLAND UNDER 4 FT OR MORE of salt water and sewage nastiness... difference was a maybe just a few ft above sea level it was all back in the ocean/Gulf in hours... not a stewing below sea level months long soup bowl to be only pumped out. Personal property loss wise just as devistating, but the homes survived, especially older ones with real plaster and tile floors, though many thousands of cars hauled off as junk, and try to find a replacement.

Actually too it wasn't the Surge that got NOLA (like much of Miss) it was the gravity back wash with no wind push... except maybe reverse wind backside backwards exasperating it back into the Gulf that made the walls/levees fail.

That is the difference between a flat island vs were it all piles up against land... 04 XMAS Tsunami much the same thing where it hit land and piled up and then gravity back washed big problems... the much Keys like flat Maldives though...pretty much just washed over and little damage or loss of life.
