Re: [Connectivity] Is shop.rcn.com broken?

Lil'H,

You might want to update that FAQ with the info that some approved modems won't make flat-out Mach20 (for sure), or Mach10(probably).

Or if you want to be more measured, you could say, "One user (me) reports that the Tosh2500 maxes out at about 7.1mbps."

Our FAQ will still reflect what their website page shows, but I did add a note to the bottom:

»RCN Forum FAQ »What are the RCN Approved (BYOM) Modems?

These modems are certainly capable, whether or not the firmware updates have been forthcoming from the manufacturers
and/or sent out to these modems is a different story

Jim,

FIVE calls to the Phillipines, and one escalation caused me to give up. I ordered a truck roll. $50 and what, $6/mo. later I was at full speed. NOTHING else was done.

Unless the truck tech knows how to get a guy who actually can reset the config file, and no one else in the system does. That couldn't be, could it?

Sorry to beat on you, a standup guy, but the modem swap instantly tripled the speed. Nothing else could.

How do we achieve 20 mbps speed on my Toshibe PCX2600 modem?

Currently my speed is around 17 mbps.
