I am currently with verizon on a 3000/768 plan but only getting speeds of 1500/382. If I switch to dslextreme's 3000 plan would it be possible to get better speeds. |

| Hi EkostonS,
This all depends on why you are getting the 1.5mb/382 speeds. The DSL signal will originate from the same Central office or Remote Terminal regardless of who your ISP is. If Distance or Line quality are the limiting factor changing your Internet provider will not resolve the issue.
We will do everything we can to troubleshoot the modem, line, computer to make sure that they are configured to get optimal speeds but there is no way we can guarantee what speed you will get before installing the service.
Have you spoken to Verizon tech support about why you are unable to get the full connection speed? -- Zak

| Hi EkostonS -
It looks like Verizon has you capped in their DSLAM at the 1500 profile. The line readings for the sync rate that you are at look pretty good. The general rule of thumb is if you double the sync rate you cut the noise margin in half. Doesn't always end up exactly like that but it is a good swag for will you will end up. At that your line readings would be marginal at best. Though your line may sync at the full 3000 profile, we wouldn't be able to guarantee it. I would recommend giving it a try. In and of the least you would end up with the speed you have now.
Thanks -- George General Manager DSL Extreme Will work for reviews. |
