NormanS : Other features of both Pegasus Mail, and Mercury/32 which I find attractive:

Both are free to individual users.

They work together as a unit. I don't have to configure an outbound mail server in Pegasus Mail, unless I want to use a different SMTP message submission server than Mercury/32. Pegasus Mail knows the mail queue location in the Mercury/32 message store, and dumps a properly formatted email in that queue, and Mercury/32 sends it out as if it had accepted the message for delivery from any other client.

I'd pay for those features (and probably will make a donation in the coming year).

In any case, until Yahoo! changed the way that 'smtp.att.yahoo.com:465' worked, I used it with the Mercury/32 SMTP Relay Client as a smarthost, and had no problems. Now, because the server requires either the same email address as the sender as the login, or verification of, at most, 10 email addresses, if different than the login email address, I can't use it. Too many non-pacbell.net domain email addresses, well over 10. So I use 'mail.pacbell.net', instead.

I've seen corrupt Digital ID mentioned as causing problems with 'smtp.att.yahoo.com:465', and also Windows Live Onecare. Removing the latter fixed the problem for some, deleting Digital IDs in the "Personal" list fixed the problem for others. Don't have a clue where to look for Digital IDs in Incredimail. It is on the "Security" tab in the "Options" menu in MS Outlook Express, and the "Safety Options" tab in Windows Live Mail.
