I don't think SE is anti-customer - as much as COVAD and Verizon love pointing the fingers at one another.
For the past 15 days or more - I've had intermittent connectivity w/ my Speakeasy DSL. Their tech support people ROCK! There was high capacitence on my line - so it was most probably trouble in the cable feeding the crossbox in my neighborhood - and one of the VZ techs split my pair to get someone else back in service on a bad pair.
SE called Covad - who called VZ - who claimed to roll a truck last weekend - no call - no show from the Verizon tech. (VERIZON SUCKS!) So - then I call back SE and say that nobody came out - and Covad won't escalate because they believe that VZ rolled a truck - but it never happened. No call - no show. Then Covad wanted to roll a truck - but after the last Covad idiot came here (and tuned my demarcation point (Dmarc) into a RATS NEST - when the problem was a DSLAM card) I refused. My house is wired w/ Cat 5e and I put a meter on it - actually I ran a meter from the splice box into my home - and to where my DSL modem was - and had no issues at all. The problem was in the outside plant.
Anyway - VZ and Covad passed the buck back and forth - leaving me w/o any service when I was on-call for my job. I needed connectivity. I really didn't want to leave Speakeasy - and their tech support people did their damn best to help - but it's hard to fight a big retarded giant like Verizon.
So - I had no other choice but to move my service over to Comcast.
Even when they roll FIOS out - I'll never use Verizon. They are an evil evil evil corporation - who have no regard for customers - or their own employees for that matter.
Goodbye Speakeasy - I will miss you! You were an awesome ISP! The problem was Verizon lack of being able to keep me on a clean pair. Maybe I'll return someday soon - and I'll always recommend and refer people to you!
