Re: [Internet] Usage Monitor

Not a lot you can do under these circumstances ... there is no real way to monitor the bytes between the router and the modem. This is possibly an option that should be included in new routers!

They don't carry forward usage from month to month because that defeats the purpose of the caps ... they want to limit bandwidth usage, so if you had carry forwards, then that wouldn't work.

Clarified a bit. (You know I'm picky. )

I think what sbrook meant was modems. If ISPs are going to limit your bandwidth maybe they should be required to provide a modem with a bandwidth meter built in.

Bell monitors the usage by b1xxxx.

Since they are billing for overage; .... they can know INSTANTLY what the usage IS!

I'm loosing my PATIENCE with BELL, THE BANKS, VISA, MASTER CARD, etc. that can't implement instantaneous reporting.

The RUSE (trickery) from these companies to influence the group that is NOT TECH SAVVY may need to be eliminated by legislation unless the corporate giants STOP LYING to the public.

There is NO equipment on the market these days that DOES NOT LOG IN REAL TIME all of the transactions that happen with the Internet, and the bytes used is the least of the problem.

Rick.

So show your dissatisfaction with the way they are screwing you by walking away from them for all services.

Nope, not asleep.

When do you get the overage bill? Not on the bill right at the end of the month you incur it, but 1 or 2 bills later.

Yes, they should be able to know your usage second by second, but like Rogers, I suspect the systems for billing and the systems for recording are separate and not compatible for this purpose.

Note that I said there is no way for you the user to monitor the bytes between your router and your modem. Or through your modem/router if you have one of these "gateway" modems. Nothing to do with Bell.

It is a pain but even the agents (tech or otherwise) have the 60 hour limit and I used to get cussed out because I couldn't get the "up to the second" results. The best anyone (agents or members) can do is the usage monitor on bell.ca or on the servers.

pain my ass
