What Verizon eliminated is the return receipt you would get from using vtext.com. I'm not aware of any phone that did delivery receipts via the handset itself.
I was about to say the same thing. I used to have VZW and now have ATT - I never got confirmation of delivery on my VZW phone nor do I get them with my ATT phone.
