Does sonic.net still host akamai servers since it seems like all akamai traffic is going to akamai servers at the San Jose Equinix instead of the sonic.net hosted akamai servers as I had seen previously. Few traceroutes:

kudos:9 | Yes, we do. Akamai uses DNS to direct traffic, so if you trace route to a specific IP, you'll end up at that specific IP, not here.

Interesting, I remember that in the old days, as long as you tracerouted a akamai hosted site like symantec.com, it would go directly to the nearest Akamai server based on the DNS you're using.

According to Augie at sonic.net:
sonic.net does still host Akamai servers and he said he remembers they were being replaced recently. Maybe they were never added back in so he asked around and basically came back on October 11, 2008 with:
it looks like they took them out of Maintenance and never put them back in; we tried contacting them, but did not get anywhere.
