I have recently changed the wireless adapters but the Cisco Firewall remains unchanged. Now when I go home and try to connect to my work VPN I get an error message 501 and it says that it is most likely due to Cisco device. Why? If I haven't touched the Firewall only changed the router. How can I resolve this?
I think you are saying that you changed your wireless router, not just the adapter, at your home. If so, that is where you are now getting an error message from (if the Cisco firewall/router has not changed). What message are you getting?

What router model did you get? Depending on what your new router is (and client), you will either need to enable "IPSec passthrough" and/or "PPTP passthrough" and or "L2TP passthrough" or all three in your new router. Look for those options. If it doesn't have those pre-configured.. then you will have to do some port forwarding... but I'll await your answers first.

said by mike090909 :

I wanted to start a new VPN using windows but when it comes to typing in the Hostname IP I am not sure what to do. I run the ipconfig in my computer but am not sure if that is the IP to use there or should I run ipconfig on our network computer and use that instead? Or do I get it from the Cisco Firewall or the new router? Please help.

If you are connecting from home, you will use the same IP/dyn name as you did before to connect to work. The work IP hasn't changed.

[Home PC] ==> [New Home Wireless Router] ==>[Work Cisco Router/Firewall] ==> [Work]
