| Verizon FIOS TV DVR (HouseMedia) issues after install
We just had Verizon FIOS Tv installed over the weekend. Before this we had TW Cable With a DVR and all was working OK. Now that the Media DVR is installed for FIOS, When the TV is turned off, I now have to use the TV remote to change the TV to Video1 then the Verizon program will show up. I never had to do this with TW cable at all??? I called Verzion, and they said its the TV? Call me anal, but I dont think I should have to use 2 remotes to watch TV??
If it worked before with the old DVR fine(TW), why has it changed now?
Im just wondering whats different with this DVR setup. The Verizon tech installed it all and supposedly checked it?
thanks for any and all help. |

@controltec.com | reply to TemeculaDoug the TV remote or the FIOs remote? |

If you are viewing the programming on the TV's video1 (rear connectors), then you are connected with composite cables. That's how composite connections work.
Program the TV button on the FIOS remote, so it controls the TV. |

| reply to TemeculaDoug There are some TV's that always power up tuned to the last CHANNEL the tuner was on, no matter what input you were using at power-down (we have one of those, an APEX). My guess is that you were connected to the TWC box using coax and the TV was happy to turn on tuned to whatever channel the STB was outputting on.
Now, your DVR is connected to "Video 1" on the TV (The HD-DVR has no RF output) and you have to change the TV's input at each power-up.
As ghandyman noted, the FiOS remote can be programmed (most of the time) to control the TV (when the TV button on it is pressed) - the FiOS install tech usually does that, if possible. Hit the TV button and you should be able to cycle through the TV's input modes using the A/V button on the remote. You then need to press the "STB" button, on the remote, to put it back into the proper mode to FULLY control the FiOS STB/DVR. -- Never raise your hands to your kids. | reply to TemeculaDoug Thanks for all the replies- Im thinking that since the TW DVR had a in/out coax ports on the back and the new DVR only has an input (coming from wall) that could be difference?
Our TV is an APEX(AT3208S) as well, but like I said, it worked fine with the TW DVR(Motorola) |

Read the suggestions above, your answer is there. |

| reply to TemeculaDoug Has anyone actually been successful getting the A/V input button on the FIOS remote programmed to work for their TV (or receiver)? The posts above rather glibly suggest that it is easy, and I'm fine for following directions on programming a remote... but I've read precious little on the 'net about anyone actually getting it to work.
Maybe it's just my TV (vizio) or receiver (sony) that is the problem. I doubt, however, that sony components shouldn't be controllable. |

@rohmhaas.com | Hmmm.... is that a Sony Receiver or a TV? If so, what is the code you used (if your remember). |

| reply to TemeculaDoug I have a 36" RCA monitor and the V* remote works with it (power, volume, mute, menu, PIP and the A/v button).
I also have a Yamaha receiver and there is some, limited functionality with it... Basic: power, volume, mute (easily ID'd) and some weird implementation of a few menu functions but they are not obviously identifiable.
A second remote works properly with an APEX TV, -- Never raise your hands to your kids. It leaves your groin unprotected. -- Red Buttons |
