I received an email stating Verizon will be performing network maintenance on Dec 18, 2008 between 11pm and 8am.
Any chance it'll resolve the slow connection here in NY or am I getting my hopes up?

My connection at home is unbelievable, none of the websites would load, and I've to do my online transactions at my workplace which is ridiculous. If this continues, I'm going over to Cable once my contract ends with Verizon.

Make a post regarding your slow speeds on the Verizon Direct Forums here on dslreports.com. It's confidential, nobody else can see what information you post. Someone from verizon will be able to assist you.

ATM, they fixed my congested speeds :P, so try it!

OMG line test is DONE

20 and 40 percent packet loss from there routers.
check out the link:

»/linequality/nil/2459176

At least they need to reboot these routers or put better
ones in or have somekid of reduncency to handle the load.
But im thinking a reboot will do the trick - Off and On switch.

Notice the 3 digit numbers like - 198, 229,336 etc. That should be in the range of 56-65ms.

Tracert:
Tracing route to verizon.net [206.46.232.39]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms 1.1.1.1
2 8 ms 9 ms 9 ms 10.32.93.1
3 9 ms 9 ms 9 ms ge-5-3-0-0.core-rtr1.ny325.verizon-gni.net [130.
81.12.245]
4 9 ms 10 ms 9 ms 130.81.20.176
5 89 ms 17 ms 17 ms 130.81.19.111
6 59 ms 138 ms 27 ms 130.81.19.89

11 77 ms 56 ms 287 ms 206.46.229.17
12 * 137 ms 56 ms 206.46.232.39

It seems two external verizon routers are screwed up
with IP packet loss:

176 ms so-1-0-0-0.core-rtr1.dfw03.verizon-gni.net
and
11 77 ms 56 ms 287 ms 206.46.229.17

just look at the ms, 287 and 154, way to high.

Also did a line test from dslreports -
there router 130.81.20.157 is reporting 20 percent packet loss. and 206.46.225.18 has 20 percent packet loss also.

im waiting for the line test to complete.
The values of the packet loss is from a App i use called Visual Route. But i really didnt have to use that - tracert
displays where the problem is.

It's been 4 days of worthless upload speeds in 10009 East Village NYC. Everything else has been fine but we can't even upload a 2mb file without a fail near the end. Have tried multiple computers, bought all new wiring and installed a new modem, have been on the phone with tech support everyday, they run their tests and say everything looks fine from their end and there is nothing they can do to help. They suggest we pay to have a technician come. This site seems riddled with people who have had this same problem. What is the best solution?

to everyone with this problem. is there anything that we can do as group to try and get this sorted out. i mean if verizon have problems in certain areas , ok but then let everyone know where these areas are.

as a group can we do something a mass petition maybe, go public with it and embarrass verizon into doing something.

all i want is to be told the truth as whats going on. i no longer call there phone line for the internet as i never get any answers and are usually told that it is on my end.

if mothers on twitter can stop an ad why cant we as a group get a little respect from verizon.

just my two cents . what do others think?

Is that good or bad the 2.8 / 2.9 kbps? I'm not trying to argue but I think that is bad. As the transfers on the downside should be about 350 kb downstream the least. That is for the 3 megabits plan. Tonight though I had nearing those speeds opposed to the post earlier.

Well, I went through the Direct Forums.

Ever since my ticket closed, my speeds have been 2.8kbps - 2.9kbps. Seems things have cleared up. I suggest others to post their troubles.

They aren't cutting the speeds. The congestion is delaying packets which in turn causes the slow speeds.

well, I've been a verizon online dsl customer for 6 frigging years. Ever since two and a half weeks ago. My connection's pretty much went to hell. i have the 3.0 plan ( East 22nd street zip code: 11229 Brooklyn, NY) First, i thought it was a problem with the modem which can be fixed by simply resetting the damn frigging thing but the problem persisted. Called on verizon online tech support a week ago and after an hour and a half of saying i did this and that and redid everything they told me to even though I've done it 10+ frigging times already, it still didn't help. They said they'll sent a notice to the higher office and will contact me in two days. Guess what? Call never came and I'm still stuck at horrendous speeds ranging from 0.2 KB yes you heard me 0.2 Kb to at most 20 KB. My maximum download speed is suppose to be 338 KB. Honestly I'm seriously frigging pissed and i will be canceling their service tomorrow for sure unless they can provide a decent explanation. I can't even stream videos and have trouble loading a single picture right now. Loading a page sometimes freezes in the middle and i have to press the refresh button. Hell, i even have problems loading search results.
Post in the verizon direct forums, my speeds seem to have cleared up but I've been too busy leveling these past few days to run any check ups. But I "think" they fixed it. Calling them won't do anything, make a thread in the direct forums.

I am on east 29th and (11229) and have same exact issue as Tsubasa. I sannot even get to this DSL page from home and have to post from work. My speeds are about 8kb (when I can even get to test page). I am going to cable since I have no time to play games with there support team. Very disappointing since I have had the service for a long time with very little issues. Never even got a return call from tech support.
