Re: Slow Speeds in NYC

A mix of packet loss, slow speeds, and high pings in the 11222 (Greenpoint, Brooklyn). It has been like this for a week or so. I can verify that I don't have a physical problem in my apartment.

epicsurge, if you find out what is going on, could you please let me know too? I'm also in Flushing and have been experiencing the same thing. Thanks. This is so frustrating!

sure thing

also this is the same problem i had 5 months back. i made a thread about it on the direct and got it fixed, i dug the same thread up and relinked it to my new thread.

The problem last time was that there was a network outage in our area.

I have been having slower the dial up speeds for download and normal upload speeds in brooklyn (11229) I spent 30 minutes with 1 tech (got disconnected and he never called me back) and then over an hour with another Tech. Tried convincing them it is not my PC. They insisted on doing a Go to my PC remote connection anyway and checked all my settings. They told me even though they can see my connection is slow (they did 2 speed tests and tried browsing internet sites) the fact that a line test came up green there is a good chance the next level will find nothing wrong. I have been with Verizon for 8 years and had lots of issues in the beginning but have had very little for a while now before this one. I will give it another week and then guess i will switch to Cable. Good reason to try the triple play anyway. I was very disappointed with the fact I had to basically argue with them that my Pc was not the issue.

I did the same thing. Although for me this problem was a month ago. It seems to come back every half a year. I think i'm going to Cable soon.

Bigslowdown11229, don't even bother with phone support. They all doing the same annoying routine and eventually blaming it on your PC.

Yes, the worse thing you can do is call by phone. They will tell you it's your PC, and ask to remotely connect to your PC and fidget with some settings.

well, I've been a verizon online dsl customer for 6 frigging years. Ever since two and a half weeks ago. My connection's pretty much went to hell. i have the 3.0 plan ( East 22nd street zip code: 11229 Brooklyn, NY) First, i thought it was a problem with the modem which can be fixed by simply resetting the damn frigging thing but the problem persisted. Called on verizon online tech support a week ago and after an hour and a half of saying i did this and that and redid everything they told me to even though I've done it 10+ frigging times already, it still didn't help. They said they'll sent a notice to the higher office and will contact me in two days. Guess what? Call never came and I'm still stuck at horrendous speeds ranging from 0.2 KB yes you heard me 0.2 Kb to at most 20 KB. My maximum download speed is suppose to be 338 KB. Honestly I'm seriously frigging pissed and i will be canceling their service tomorrow for sure unless they can provide a decent explanation. I can't even stream videos and have trouble loading a single picture right now. Loading a page sometimes freezes in the middle and i have to press the refresh button. Hell, i even have problems loading search results.

I am on east 29th and (11229) and have same exact issue as Tsubasa. I sannot even get to this DSL page from home and have to post from work. My speeds are about 8kb (when I can even get to test page). I am going to cable since I have no time to play games with there support team. Very disappointing since I have had the service for a long time with very little issues. Never even got a return call from tech support.

Post in the verizon direct forums, my speeds seem to have cleared up but I've been too busy leveling these past few days to run any check ups. But I "think" they fixed it. Calling them won't do anything, make a thread in the direct forums.

They aren't cutting the speeds. The congestion is delaying packets which in turn causes the slow speeds.

jeffmoney

@verizon.net
if thats true why then every day at 7pm it drops, they have like a timing that at 7pm they drop everyone speeds
