anklosaur : Another problem I've heard of is if the DVI device you are connecting to doesn't handle copy protection, the hdmi device will not communicate with it. One of the weaknesses of hdmi or dvi. Which one is weak depends on whether you are an end user (the former) or a copyright holder (the latter).

nnaarrnn : did you try calling the local office? DVI input will give you ONLY video, maybe the box is getting confused about HDMI(vid+aud) to DVI(vid only).

anon : I recently got setup with the Suddenlink HD DVR box and my TV only has a DVI port on it. I used a HDMI from the DVR to a DVI on the TV to connect it and after I power the DVR on I see it flash the signal with the guide and everything two times and then I get no signal. Right now im using the components but would like to use the HDMI since I had to unhook my dvd player for the components.

The HDMI to DVI cable should work with the DVR right?
