| Is it Bells responsibilty to ensure you get a 5M profile ?
This guy posted that he has a 6M profile at 3Km from the remote. »Re: MLPPP installation & info
If I'm at 3Km from the remote and only getting 2.4M profile, is it's Bell's responsibility to insure that I get a 5M profile. Or as the saying goes you get what we give you and your SOL even if your 100 feet away. -- It's all... part of the plan. |

| Hey,
Well I can tell you from experience that the quality or conditioning of the lines definitely makes a huge difference. There are some areas where the lines are right next to the customer maybe a couple KM away and the customer is getting 1728/800, where as there are other areas where the customer is way over 4km and getting 5mb without issue. Its pretty much hit and miss (depending on the area), unless you're lucky enough to be on a stinger.

| reply to Stewy It should be Bells responsibility. Particulary when they set you to the default profile 3M/800 and not bother to up that to 5M/800. They really should know my now that nobody is gets 3M and that GAS is 5M.
As for line conditions, that's a grey area. The costs would be high to upgrade all the copper so everyone gets what they pay for, but they should put the effort in. |

I'm just trying to see if there's a difference in service responsibility just because I'm with TSI and not sympatico |

Let me put it this way, If I didn't have internet and called Bell to get a Simpatico 5M profile would they make the effort to ensure that I get that profile at 3Km from the CO My inlaws are around 1Km on Sympatico and I had to place several calls to get the max they paid for. And at no point in time that talking about line stats was permitted/understood.
You call TSI once, mention line stats and I'm sure it'll be resolved within a day. It was for me. |

When Bell installs the dry loop I don't think they care if it has a 6M or 30Kbs profile but the question remains, if I were a sympatico customer would they offer a different level of service to ensure I get a 5M profile. -- It's all... part of the plan. |

You get whatever your line can handle, in both cases with Sympatico or TS they will only look at the line if you call in and then it's a case by case basis whether they send out someone to repair. While TS is being more proactive about it now, it's impossible to continuously monitor line conditions on every line. |

| All i Can suggest Stewy is make friends with the bell tech who services your area They have the ability to Move u to a better pair in the box. or to a remote. provided there is room. For example i am at 4.5 kms away and i can actually sustain a 6m profile. on interleave 5 on fastpath
55.4 attenuation. All in the pair your on i suppose. |
