said by erfans :Will this work on an AT@T 2Wire 2701HG-G. I'm going to purchase it tomorrow from craigslist so I need to know. Thanks! Okay 2 things: 1) AT&T modems are unlocked and no need to reflash them. 2) Model 2701HG-G is Bell not AT&T. AT&T should be 2701HG-B
Figure out which one you have before flashing. |

| reply to Majoram I got TekSavvy dry DSL. The Bell technician was here today. After he did his thing, the line was not up. Befre I get a chance to call TekSavvy to see why (it turned out it was not activated yet), he went ahead and gave me this 2Wire 2701HG-G for free!
Now I guess to make use of it, I will have to unlock it. I will test it once I get the line up first. But had a question:
Did you guys figure out how the original firmware can be backed up?
Also, after I flash it, should I use it for an MLPPP strategy? |

| reply to Majoram Hey,
I have Tek Savvy Internet, too, I purchased a Bell 2Wire modem 2701HG-G modem aswell.. I was wondering when you flashed it.. what setup-keycode did you use? Because I read the page and they said for extra features you can use different keycode, such as content filtering, and parental controls and many others.
apparently: "5225-2374-WG62-22AS-BJ7P" will give you 'Internet Access Controls', 'Content Screening' and 'Firewall Monitor'
"528Y-27G4-A222-22BJ-B22V" will just give you only 'Firewall Monitor'
The reference can be found at:»bt2700hgv.tripod.com/ir1002700HG···29.117.3
any help would be appreciated. |

FWIW I have used the following codes with the standard ex-SBC/ATT 2700HG-Bs and 4.25.19 firmware: 522P-22P4-6262-22AT-F2NV 52AN-2374-WHE2-22AZ-B27S |

2 edits | reply to Majoram Well, I found a way to ghetto it by DMZing my router on the modem's firewall config, and plugging everything into that... (I need a firewall with UPnP).
Edit: After checking my router says it has a public IP address. Not quite bridge mode though... |

| reply to Majoram Hey, I would just like to understand something here, regarding the Singtel firmware.
I read lots of posts regarding people wanting to use the 2701 in bridge mode, and some other posts stating that trying to use it in PPPoE is not really working...it would add @singtel.com after the username. Is that true? |

join:2005-03-15 Montreal, QC | reply to Majoram Well to update on my post, I found there was no way to use the modem in bridge mode. It only works in gateway mode.
Secondly, I flashed this modem exactly as in the directions and never had any @singtel issue. |

| Go in the MDC page, with the "2wire" as the password and configurate it! It do work in bridge mode, look for the options.
Don't forget to disable the auto update on the modem, and I think the forced @singtel was in there also.
Just need to be reconfigured, after all, you unlock more than 1000% disabled functions after replacing Bell's firmware. |

1 edit | Thank you two for the replies! I just wanted to know about the bridge mode because I thought that people were using bridge because the modem could not be put in router mode :P
I will most likely try to flash the firmware very soon, but I am trying to seek an alternative option before I do. I am currently exchanging emails with 2wire's tech support to know if it could be possible to enter a different keycode by going into debug mode (the JTAG pin 1&2 thing that some of you are most likely aware of). I don't know if this would allow one to change the keycode? And if yes, then could we possibly use the modem as-is without any reflashing?
Edit: I called 2wire yesterday and it's too bad that I'm in Canada, or else I would've asked them to JTAG it to the AT&T version, which is not locked... =/ |
