Re: Unlocking Bell 2Wire modems....

Ok well after receiving no further input and being told by 2wire "not to try modifying any settings in debug mode", I simply said to myself: the hell with this, I'm flashing it.

And it worked!

So now, I just want to know, what is auto-update, and where do I disable it (in the MDC, I assume)?

Thanks!

Nice, I didn't see that setting! So yeah, looks like Bridge mode can be enabled via the Configure Services link in the MDC. =D

Nice, I tried this and it works perfectly fine.

I'm assuming it still doesn't support MLPPP :P

why wouldn't it. MLPPP is negotiated at the PPP link level. The modems never see it.

Alright, I did my own experimenting, and I used the code that unlocked all the features. worked successfully. You just have to wait for them to appear. Might take hours, 30mins, or a day.. for me took 15 mins.. but I played around in all the settings after I unlocked it. Thanks again for the instruction / tutorial.

I've never seen a dialog for "auto update" you can disable "remote management"
If that is what you seek here's the url

Thanks Majoram, I followed your steps and it worked perfectly. I am posting this using a former Bell 2Wire 2701 in Bridge mode.

is anyone having problems getting port-forwarding to work on this?

I installed this on my 2700HG-B and everything is working except port-forwarding doesn't seem to do anything

ok ignore the previous post, port forwarding is working fine, it seems the problem is I can't connect to my own ip from inside my network, I can connect to other computers by going to their local 192.x.x.x address but my own public IP won't work, anyone know why this is happening and how I can fix it?

Yes that's the whole purpose of this thread

Did you change your user name and password in the modem ? Also depending on the firmware used , you may need to change some of the settings .

How would I be able to change my username and pass? It's stuck on my @signnet or something like that. What are the exact setting that i need to change? (the firmware is the same one that's being posted about)

And, i know what the purpose of the thread is but I can't get it to work.

thanks,
(BTW this is clearlyjunk, i just didn't sign in)

Type 192.168.1.254 into your browser to access the modem , then use the system "setup" to change the user name and password . Also make sure ATM Settings are
VPI: 0, VCI: 35 .
