Margolis Premium join:2003-11-24 Saint Louis, MO | reply to Kearnstd just a question? what do you mean by "Goggles have stats now"?? Goggles always had stats. These look just like previous goggles, just a bit more powerful stats. |

We're only talkling WotLK now, not previous goggles. |

| reply to Kearnstd they only need 72 due to the engineering level, if a frozen orb is the wotlk equal to a Nether then unless they are tradeable you aint gunna be using these at 72 unless you contract out. -- [65 Arcanist]Filan(High Elf) Zone: Broadband Reports |

2 edits | reply to Kearnstd Just look at the goggles engineers can make at lvl 50 (gnomish battle goggles for example - it is possible to reach 375 engineering at 50, I did it myself) or their class specific ones they can make at lvl 62.
The lvl 50, 375 engineering goggles are as good as anything that drops in Kara, prior to T4. The lvl 62, 350 eng goggles are superior imo to T4 and only slightly less good than T5.
This just seems more of the same along those lines. Besides the mote extractor, they're the main reason for going with engineering as a profession and you'd be crazy not to take advantage of them, especially at the lowest level you can make them.
edit
As for arguments for or against. Anyone can be an engineer and one piece of gear doesn't make you op or otherwise. Just because you have a T4 equivalent head piece at lvl 62 doesn't mean you won't get your ass kicked in BGs if you're otherwise no good. |

My warlock, who just turned 67, has had his Destruction Holo-gogs »www.wowhead.com/?item=32494 since level 62, because his engineering skill was at 350 then. |

| Yeah, I've had mine (the rogue ones) since level 64 I think. I'm 69 now. I will say this...having an epic at that level is awesome. It makes you feel super powerful. (even though the real amount of power you hold is debatable) However, every time a headpiece drops that I would have snatched up but is now getting disenchanted, (by me, eng/enchant ftw) I cry a little on the inside.
Passing up on cool drops because you already have the coolest drop is kind of depressing. |

3 edits | reply to Kearnstd If they're boe like nethers then you'll just get to buy them on the AH. That's exactly how so many alts were able to get them recently at 62.
Also you have to remember that even normal instances in BC have a small chance to drop a nether. I got my first running SL. Ok I was at lvl 70 doing my kara attunement, but I believe that could have easily have happened in the instances I ran in hellfire or zangamarsh. Again if that's true of the new instances with these orbs then there exists a chance, however small, that you could get one at 72 playing the game as intended.
edit
I still don't think of it as a big deal. Druids get flight form at 68. Engineers get a t4 head piece at 62. Paladins get a free mount at 40 (or is that 30 now?). Some things aren't as good as others, some are better. But one item doesn't affect the game so much imo. If they got a full set of tier items or an epic flyer for free then you have an issue. Choosing to take up engineering means you don't get to get enchantments on rings or make bop epic gems out of blue uncuts that are better than any of the regular epics. Or you could have 2 advantages and not be able to make either because you can't afford them until you've completed a billion dailies. |

| reply to Kearnstd Nethers (and vortexes) did not start being BoE. they were originally BoP, then they got added to badge vendors, then they went BoE.
The Frozen Orbs appear to be BoE right off the bat, and they are pretty much the LK Nether.
No recipe I'm seeing on WoWhead takes more than one, however, and they seem to be mostly trainer recipies instead of world drops. -- When the ship lifts, all bills are paid. No regrets. |

Kearnstd Elf Wizard Premium join:2002-01-22 Mullica Hill, NJ | reply to Kearnstd that might change however. i wouldnt be shocked if some recipies went dropped. atleast some of the scopes. -- [65 Arcanist]Filan(High Elf) Zone: Broadband Reports |
