1 edit | Caps going up. Hopefully... as technology grows and bandwidth demands increase, this cap will go up. I can see DOCSIS 3 being released nationally and the 250GB cap still in place... just to save more money while they still can. Soon after DOCSIS 3 is released I would expect the caps to go up, since the newer technology is much more capable of handling higher throughput.

Hahahahahahahahahahaha Hahahahahahahahahahaha. You're joking, right? I am being completely serious. Comcast right now is still able to compete with Verizon... but they can do better. With the release of DOCSIS 3, they are much more capable of handling higher loads. They need to compete one way or another, whether nationally or in select markets.

Eg. TWC isn't deploying Docsis 3.0 with the exception of FiOS markets. AT&T's Uverse isn't enough of a threat at this point to justify the cost. -- Canada = Hollywood North

| Re: Caps going up. Interesting counterpoint to that -- Minneapolis is a Comcast DOCSIS 3.0 test market.
There's no Verizon here; in my neighborhood my only alternative is Embarq 5mbps DSL, yet I can get 50/5 cable service.
Comcast will roll D3 to all markets, not because of the Internet improvements (although that's a nice side benefit), but because of the added features it allows them to more easily deploy on the video side (ie, Switched Digital Video).

Sir, your fancy logic and facts are not welcome here. Since you make a valid point, you must either work for Comcast or you are a shill.
