elzar760 : Well two entirely different 2100's had exactly the same symtoms. That would make me think maybe its the line, but the old modem gets much much faster speeds than either of the two modems, and my power levels are all well within spec, good signal to noise ratio. It's gotta be the way they are putting the config on the modem or something in the way they have my account configured on their end.

Goober : The old modem sounds like it's doing a good job. But, you should be getting faster than 13 down though. It may not be a modem issue though. Unfortunately, until the modem issue is squared away, you won't know for certain what the problem is.

elzar760 : Indeed it seems that way. Yeah I know Im not expecting the full 2mbps. But this had the actual bit rate maxed at 1,117,xxx in the modem itself. and I could not be that 1mbps speed on any speed test. The real confusion was that the max down speed was capped at 16,xxx,xxx and still only got 2-3 mbps on every speed test. Bam back to the old modem that shouldn't have worked, and I get 13mbps down and 1.7 up. Just dont get it lol. I just wnat to keep the old one at this point.

Goober : It seems to me they have no explanation and are throwing everything against the wall to see what sticks. There's no reason that the 2100 should not have worked.

Also, on the 15/2 I only get 15/1.75 at the most.

New Modem = worse than old

elzar760 : Okay so, I have the 15 down 2 up plan. The top plan. They said my old Webstar 1.0 wouldn't hack it with the speeds so they mailed me a new one. Webstar 2100 R2 I believe. I put it online and called them up. They did their thing, and strangely on the page where it tells you if they have set a limit on speed, and it shows 16,xxx,xxx down and 1,xxx,xxx up. So basically this says I should be getting 16 down 1 up, which is not my plan, but I show I have the right config file from them so I call them back up. After over an hour and trying multiple things, including running every form of speed test I could find, we were no where. Every speed test showed me in reality getting around 3 meg down 1 meg up. Chalk itup to modem. I put my old modem back online, and get 13-14 down and 1.6 meg up. Not bad for a modem that shouldn't work with the new plans well at all. So they ship me a new modem. I get it, plug it in. Call them up. Exact same results. Now they are telling me the 2100 webstar wont hack it with the top tier either, and they need to give me I guess the modem they give out to phone customers. Anyone seen anything like this?
