| Great, yet another thing to give me problems I live in the 'dead zone' between Milwaukee and Chicago. While I do have cable, I have a TV antenna on a rotateable pole to use when the cable goes out. All my TVs have digital tuners, but even with my big gun antenna, reception sucks on certain channels. If Digital TVs range is less, then I may not get anything at all when the conversion strikes.
I guess then my wife will get her wish and the antenna will come down off the roof.

Any rooftop antenna should work for those distnaces easy. Now come on. I lived in Lake county IL for over 13 years I have family that still lives there so I know the region. |

| reply to Warmachine99 I know what you mean about the dead zone. I was just up in your area shopping at the Outlet Malls. I couldn't even tune in any radio stations (except 96.9 The Drive which broadcasts from Zion) on the radio's on sale at the Sony store. Milwaukee is quite a way's and so is Chicago. I'm guessing 45 to 50 miles north to Milwaukee and 50 the other way to Chicago. |

| reply to BF69 Yes, its 45 miles to downtown Milwaukee, and about 50 miles to downtown Chicago, but thats not where all TV broadcasts come from. I also happen to be in a 'lower' region, and in order to make my reception come in 'perfect' I would need to raise my antenna another 50-75 feet, which my HOA forbids. They dont like my current antenna either, but they cant order me to remove it unless they remove the antennas from thier houses.
Gotta love it when other people tell you what you can and cant do on your own property!! -- I've discovered that I often visit the state of confusion, and I know my way around pretty well. |

Make your antenna much higher and your need to put a red strobe on top of it. |

| Its already 50 ft above ground, and thats the limit that my HOA allows. The light however, is a great idea, and would piss off the HOA to no end as its not covered by thier rediculous rules.
I wonder if I could get one of those red/white strobes cheaply... Its not a bad idea considering how close I am to the airport (and where that Helicopter crashed into a house!). -- I've discovered that I often visit the state of confusion, and I know my way around pretty well. |

 | reply to Warmachine99 ATSC mainly broadcasts in UHF. The antenna you have a multidirectional UHF/VHF antenna. Get a directional antenna like the CM 4228 and you'll grab either city just fine. My brother-in-law lives 42 miles away from the stations he picks up with his. He picks them all up. |
