| Could ViaTalk service get any worse?
I read thread after thread of bad experiences and realize wow im in the same boat!!!!!!! Read on dear friends to know you have another person who cares enough to write down their experiences and not like being treated the way we are by viatalk..
First dont call nights if you want to talk to viatalk on the phone, they must only have 1 guy working there because the hold time every time I call late is horrible. Monday tuesday wednesday doesnt matter when. I seem to call so much because of problems now that I know this, isnt that sad? When I complained to a supervisor about all my issues, he didn;'t even care either. It was really like talking to a robot that was just happy he makes more money then everyone else to say uhhuh yes yep ok i understand without any feeling at all
I have so many service problems now, I got an email after a long time of service saying I was switched to a different network. SWITCHED??? I didnt authorize a switch and then my service didnt work at all, great switch viatalk! Adding to this my immediate family member was sick in the hospital and i couldnt talk to anyone. Couldnt anyone give me some notice, some time to know I might have a problem if i was forced to switch networks? Does viatalk even use their own service and know how bad it is to just change something like that on the fly? Give me a week or something, just dont do it and then after it happens tell me oh your stuff might not work do this and this and that to fix it. This gives me the feeling management might not even know its happening because its so bad, is someone going behind the bosses back switching people to their new stuff just to get it done and look good? I dont get it and its created so many problems for me and other people here
I gotta say though when I do actually get to talk to a phone rep that is not a supervisor they are really nice and really honest which is a plus in my book. I really hate when a company just strings me along on the phone because they dont want to tell me the truth when they think i wouldnt like the answer. I've never had a problem with viatalk about that, they were dead on with me and thats important. I know there are more then 1 rep with the same names, but ive talked a few times to the same Steve and Bill who were fantastic. They really knew their stuff and it actually seemed like they cared. They even called me back when my cell phone lost signal, thats something you wont get from many other companies. Ive talked to the same Claire before too on a couple calls and she seems nice but lost with real technical problems
I dont know what happened to viatalk since a year ago I liked it a lot more but now not at all. If they really cared about us customers they wouldnt hire bad supervisors or change things without notice, and the dead parrot email wasnt funny. I really want to say again emphatically that it was not funny!!!!!!! Our viatalk account email is family shared and we used to have parrots who are no longer with us. Thank god I saw the email first and my kids didnt because they would have been so upset to even see that. I never thought I would have to worry about my phone company making my children cry. Please fix your company before you make jokes because you dont have time to sit around thinking about how to be funny when there are so many problems -CR |

| When they "switched networks" it likely was just an internal change to their networks as to what server you were connected to. Normally you would not notice nor likely care. It's not nearly as big of a deal as what you might think it is. It's not like they are a POTS telco and were switching a long distance carrier for instance. |

I talked to a support person named Mary last thursday morning on the 25th and she was the rudest most condescending person. She talked down to me like I was an idiot and yelled at me on the phone most of the time - how do people get away with this ? are the supervisors sleeping at viatalk ? how cna they not hear their workers yelling ? HELLO WAKE UP |

HELLO WAKE UP They are in New York, so they probably do not know they are being rude. I am trying to remember a line from a movie a few years back that pointed that out...a grocery store checker was being rude to a woman and the guy in line behind her said she did not need to be rude to the woman. The checker replied to the guy, that she was not being rude...the guy replied, "then you must be from New York". Anyone recall the name of the movie? -- "The world is a book; those who do not travel read but a single page." -St. Augustine |

| "Your Imagination"? (I'm not familiar with such a poorly scripted movie.)
Viatalk isn't composed of stereotypical "New Yorkers", if there is such a thing. They're "upstate", essentially in or near farm country, and as far from New York City and all those dreaded and code-worded urbanites as one could imagine. Upstate New York is closer in tone to the US south, and they tend to hate and fear New York City as much as those in the south.

I didn't find the parrot email funny either -- not because it was offensive (it wasn't), but because it was lame, and because Monty Python jokes suck. What genuinely amuses me is that you've gotten so worked up over a silly little email. If that email offended you as much as you claim it did, you should probably avoid using the Internet, and stick to public access television or something like that. -- irc.removed.us - #dslr | DSLR Phishtracker | Email: removed@dslr.net |

So I went and did what I should have done before, I looked it up. Its from "Terms of Endearment" "... I don't think I was very rude. - Well, then you must be from New York. ..." -- "The world is a book; those who do not travel read but a single page." -St. Augustine |

Sunrocket service, itself, was not bad at all. History wears rose colored glasses, true, but other than periodic outages, the phone service itself was pretty good.

| reply to B said by B :Sunrocket service ... was pretty good. I must echo this sentiment. There is no question that I would have renewed all 9 of my original SR accounts, along with the associated virtual numbers, had SR simply added Nomadic E911 and FailOver to its product offering --- and improve its Customer Service. Actually, once they brought it back to the US, SR's CS was working pretty well.
But, without going thru the specific set of current providers, we do indeed have several excellent replacements for SR --- with even greater features set, including those items lacking with SR. And we have an even wider selection of pricing options.
So the fits and starts of the VoIP industry experienced by us early subscribers are starting to stabilize ... albeit still not quite there ... and always under attack from the big PSTNs (and Cable companies) ... with the FCC's scary presence always looming. |
