Re: [Siemens] Faster DSL by getting a new modem?

What is your current Speed Up and Down? If under 8.0 Mbps then the 4100 will not give you any benefits in speeds. Plus, when you order faster speeds, the ISP usually "gives" you a new Modem that is guaranteed to work with their DSL equipment.

Standard ADSL covers "up to" 8.0 Mbps (since 1998)
ADSL2 covers "up to" 12.0 Mbps
ADSL2+ covers "up to" 24.0 Mbps.

Re: [Siemens] Faster DSL by getting a new modem?

Thanks for the info. I have 3.0 Mbps service so it sounds like the modem will not make a difference for me.

How about if I get a twist pair phone cable between the jack and the DSL modem such as the "Radio Shack ADSL patch cable"? Is that worth it?

Correct. A waste of time and money. Even if you had 6 Mbps service it would not make a difference.

If you are not having issues then it would not be needed. Save your money.
