I'd rather have all My teeth pulled, Than have to bid on a phone call everytime I'd need to make a call, Give Me a flat fee instead with usable and reasonable terms instead, dreaming? Maybe, I don't know.

Hey, because the last thing we need between companies in America is competition, right?

We all like competition, just not at a bad time. Kind of like Hospitals trying to compete for your business while you are dying on the ground between two Ambulance from two different Hospitals.

Re: I'd rather have all My teeth pulled

Competition brings faster response, more responsible care, and cheaper prices. How are those things bad for the guy that needs care?

Or are you imagining something absurd like two ambulance drivers both trying to pull a gurney into the back of their van?

Re: I'd rather have all My teeth pulled

Right...The U.S. system is based on competition... but on a different level.
The insurance companies hold the cards, and decide how and where your treatment will occur.

I think there's somewhere in Asia where you pay into insurance, but rather than it going directly into a specific carrier (say Blue Shield or Kaiser), its held until you use it, and can be used at ANY hospital.
Hospitals there tend to try and win your business.
U.S. system is built on co-pay and prescription drugs and whacked out insurance policies, putting fear into people.

Out of all of them...I prefer the Canadian/European system of socialized health care.

Since 911 calls aren't suppose to be billed to you, I'm pretty sure this system would not affect the ability to make emergency calls.

Good point. I would rather there be a feature on the phone that tells the phone to connect to the lowest price carrier all the time, automatically without delaying the call would be nice.

Otherwise 911 emergency calls should go through on any carrier without delay, if it does delay scrap the phone.

Pssst,

you're trying to use sane, logical reasons against the retarded pro-corporate, pro-monopoly, anti-competition "free market capitalism" crowd...

I agree, and I think this is a terrible idea. Who uses wireless on a "pay per call" basis anyway?? I like the fact that my bill is roughly the same every month, and I dont need to think about it. The other major issue with this is that (as we all know) each carrier would likely add on a "convenience fee", which would likely end up doubling your bill at the end of the day. I am going to pass on this and stick with my flat rate plan.

And don't forget that local, state, federal taxes, USF fees, etc would all need to be included in the billing.

Correct, I should have also mentioned that. Sure, you might get a lower price on the call but you would be totally screwed when the actual bill arrives due to the extra charges/taxes.

What if the price goes lower in the middle of your call? They should have it so carriers compete for each voice packet. And maybe we can also have Internet transport carriers bid on your IP traffic traveling across the Internet after it leaves your ISP. Each transport provider can bid on each bit individually and you'll get the best price that millisecond. Of course, Google will be the company to manage it all. I'm not sure what they'll call the service but it will be in perpetual beta.
