Poor connectivity / no sync (Houston)

Hi,

Starting about a week ago, my connection has been dropping frequently and getting worse - it's probably been down for 90% of the morning. On average, the sync light blinks green or red for 5-10 minutes, then turns solid and the internet is usable for a minute or so, and the connection drops again.

There are no other devices (phones/faxes/anything) plugged in in my apartment. When I plug in a phone, the line quality sounds okay. Nothing has changed on my end. The only significant event coinciding with this is the arrival of Ike But I don't think the problem started until well after that, and as I said it's only been getting worse.

I had a similar problem when I first got my service, but thanks to some great help from the techs on this board everything was working great for a few months (thanks!) I'd really appreciate it if you could help me out again.

Same thing. It started approx. the day of the hurricane. I figured it was ATT cutting back to allow the crucial communications through.

I was testing pretty frequently and getting my paid for speed on test of 1.5 to 1.8ish.

Since the hurricane came through, my max dl is 384. I've done several test a day.

This is very interesting. The modem can be down for long periods, but will sync within seconds of me picking up the phone (the line quality sounds fine, FWIW). I have tried this three times now. Has anyone experienced this or know what it might indicate?

Thanks for that info! That sounds exactly like what I have. I called it in as a POTS problem and the support rep said there were indeed problems with the line and they were trying to fix it.

Thanks again for the link.
