 Dryloop problems

I ordered DSL Extreme's dryloop service on 04 September 2008. They said it will be installed in one week. It's now the third week and still no connection. I called support numerous times and they said they have no install date now. They also said since I am under contract, I still have to pay the monthly fee, even though I do not have any connection. Does anyone know how long this will take?

Hi,

The average time a Dry-loop DSL order takes is 2-3 weeks. If it has already been 3 weeks. I would be happy to take a look at the account and see if I can help if you send me your account info in a PM/IM

Dry loop orders do take longer that standard DSL orders to complete. Unfortunately the process on the Verizon side isn't as refined as their standard DSL orders. My understanding from Verizon is that since they have to assign a fake number in their system and come out to the location it extends the time frame. Typically orders for dry line complete within 10-15 business days. If it has not completed please send over your info to Zak or I and we can follow up with the orders team to see if there is an update.

On a side note, you do not get billed for your initial payment until we have an activation date for you. You should not have been billed if we do not have an activation date for you.

Thanks

Don't feel bad dude, My friend is a DSLX Verizon area customer and decided to go with Magic Jack for phone service and had his Verizon phone line disconnected not knowing that it would kill his DSL service. The DSL worked for over a month after he had the phone service disconnected so he thought all was well until all of a sudden one day, no DSL. He called DSLX and was told that he had to create a new DSLX account because Verizon cancelled his account. He was instructed to send his modem back within a week or be charged an additional $99. plus pay a fee to DSLX for cancelling his DSL that he did not cancel or even know was cancelled until he called DSLX to see why his service was not working. At least they told him that he would have DSL in 3-6 weeks which sucks, but at least is an honest time frame. Verizon would have given him DSL in a week with a dry loop, yet they would make DSLX customers wait over a month. That's a monopoly if I ever saw one. Yet DSLX lets Verizon, AT&T etc. push them around like that all the time.

I'm out in Redlands and I also switched from Verizon phone+DSL to DSLX dry-loop. The DSLX sales rep told me I would be without internet for no more than 4 days, but it was nearly 4 weeks in reality.

Verizon assigned a fake number pretty quickly, but they had to send someone out to string another wire from the telephone pole to my house.

Ultimately I had to do a little rewiring in the telephone line interface box on the side of the house (which Verizon should have done as part of the "provisioning" process but didn't). But it works quite well now and I'm saving a chunk of money every month. It's not an easy process by any stretch, but it is worth it in the end.
