| Avira Security Suite?
I am trying to find info about Aviras security suite. I know the A/V is top notch, but I don't hear much about the suite. Is it a good suite. I am looking for something that doesn't hog system resources also. I don't care about parental controls or even anti-spam, and mainly want a strong a/v and firewall and if it is keeps spyware off too that is a plus. Does the suite have self protection or an hips like features?
Another option I am mulling over is to use just Avira a/v alongside Outpost Firewall Pro 2009 as I really like that firewall. What do you think of that combo? Any info at all would be very much appreciated. Thank You |

4 edits | Avira's AV (but not the firewall last I heard) has some self protection but it does not include a HIPS.
I'd recommend using Avira premium (av only) along with the firewall and/or HIPS of your choice. I use Online Armor free (Combined Firewall and HIPS).
I don't know much about Outpost 2009 but download a trial of Avira and see if they play nice together. |

| reply to whitebunny Avira premium and the suite are both very lite. Both will scan for spyware. On installation you have the option to install what features you want including anti-spam, parental control, mail guard and web browser.
The only way to know for sure is to run both on your system. Run the Avira suite and then try Avira with Outpost 2009.
You'll get a good feel for both and you'll know which way to go. -- VoicePulse 07/29/04 |
