The whole stock market is the idea of raising what is essentially free capital. Folks buy a piece of the company in exchange for what? There's no guarantee you'll make a profit and there is no guarantee that the company will survive. For that risk, the rewards can be high if the company grows and makes a lot of money. But where did this idea of "day trading" come about? I don't see this as much different than playing the odds on a football game. In most places it's illegal. Why is it legalized by the stock market? How is it different?
The real crime is the genius behind 401K. We're incented to pay into this game and people get to gamble with our money.
The system needs a few new rules so the players don't hurt themselves. I'm a capitalist but it seems that we removed too many rules and a lot of folks are trying to cheat their way to the top. |
