Re: comcast remote

I have an issue where the guide, page up/down and a few other buttons don't work at all, but if I push "Cable" first, then those buttons work. This is only on my new remote with the red OK button. My other remote with the dark grey ok button still works normally.

I had a similar issue... Had to get them to send me a new one. However, a new one costs $25. If you can convince them its an issue with the box, they'll send you a new box for free and the box comes with a remote.

Tried it, and to no avail..when i hit cable then setup the color blinks 5 times and it wont basically setup anything. I think it may be possessed.

I ran into the same problem recently, and it turns out that the Cable device code is locked on some remotes. To unlock:

* press the CABLE button.
* press and hold the SETUP button until the CABLE button blinks twice.
* Enter 9 - 8 - 2. The CABLE key will blink four times.

Then, follow the normal programming procedure using the correct code for your set-top box. To re-lock the Cable device code, repeat the steps above.

You should have gotten a code sheet with the remote. Try to follow the steps to reprogram the CABLE function to the Moto box.

Although, I have to say you may have gotten a lemon or a used one with an unknown macro programmed into it. I have seen them brand new out of the wrapper do exactly what you describe: function light blinks repeatedly after hitting a number or volume button. Swapping the remote is usually the easiest fix if you don't know what the macro is, if it does have one programmed.

I just picked it up the other day. It still has that new slippery feeling to it. I notice everytime I try to key a command one of the indicator lights blinks 5 times.

how long have you had the remote? I know with Cox the remote sometimes looses it's settings and a new remote from cox/comcast is needed.

it's a long shot but...

1. press and release the 'Cable' button
2. then hold down the 'Setup' button until the Cable light flashes
3. press 9-9-3 on the remote
4. press and release the 'Cable' button again
That locks your volume to the cable box. Not sure how that helps the OP?

Does anybody know how to fix a remote for the DCH3416 it has new batteries in it, but it is not responding to the box. I hit cable then setup and the cable light blinks 5 times. is there a hard reset anywhere on this remote?
