 This makes NO Sense...?!?...

Here are two pic's of my router page showing 4 PCs on line and their local IPs all correct... I look at UPnP and it shows 2 IPs one is correct but one is not... I have NOTHING that is using an IP 10.0.0.7...
Does anyone have an idea what it could be...?...

I'd start by trying to talk to 10.0.0.7 with all methods you can think of - ping, etc.

Some routers will leave ports open for up to a week after they were last used. You must be using DHCP and the .7 address had been used recently.

Another vote for an errant/leftover DHCP.

Can you reset your DHCP Server and try again?

Thanks everyone, it was my fault... Long story on why trying to be a nice guy is not a good idea... I'm sure you know what I'm getting at... My neighbor's DSL went out a while back and asked if he could use mine (wifi) for a day or two... I didn't want to but what are neighbors for... Well looks like we'll not be talking to each other for awhile, he denies it even after his PC name came up on my router's Attached Devices... ...

So he was STILL using your wifi?

No offense but after his time was supposedly up and his DSL was working I would have changed my encryption key.

Most likely he added a connection to your WIFI and forgot about it. I would not conclude he is a mouch so quickly.

My 2 cents

His son was playing Battlefield that how I noticed it...(UPNP had port in use 16572)... I turned off my network all day, then turned it on late this afternoon and this is what I see a hour after having it back up.. IPs #1 & 2 are not mine they're are my neighbors ... Check the first pic and notice the difference... I wish I was wrong...

Edit; By the way his name is Miles...

I was but I thought it he had a problem again he could use mine...If he wanted to use it once in awhile that's not a problem... But to play games and to be so blatant about it... And by the looks of it, I don't think he has an ISP anymore, except me...

Maybe that was his problem in the first place.

It is possible your neighbor switched to your router and simply forget to switch back. Would even be more plausible for it to happen to his son's computer. Merely an oversight. However you can just block those MAC address and that should take care of things.

Change your key and if he needs "your" network again he'll have to ask.

Actually for the last week (actually longer) or so I thought something was wrong... I thought for sure I had a Trojan, things were not right...

back to Miles...
He said he wasn't using my connection... Take a look at the first picture taken this morning... This is when I notice that the UNPN is being used by a PC that is not mine... All my IPs for my local network are 2 thru 6... This one 10.0.0.7 using a Port that I was told is used for Battlefield ... At this time I'm sure someone is my network and is using or has used Port 16572 with an IP 10.0.0.7... Again my wife's new Lappy is 10.0.0.6... I turn off my network which hasn't been off except for storms in years... I turn it back on this afternoon and with in a hour I see two PCs on my network... I wish this was a mistake, I really do...

Have you looked at packets to see if anything is actually being transferred or using your bandwidth.

1. UPNP framework might still be considering a shared connection, both you and Miles may not be doing anything.

2. The other machine could have malware causing it

First you let him, then don't do anything to stop the traffic after. I'd say you are more at fault for not securing yourself after. As I mentioned in my first line of this reply, has any actual traffic logs showing for using the bandwidth you gave permissions to in the first place been recorded? I see nothing other than as mentioned, a connection that hasn't reached time out.

I'd be seriously looking at more info before committing to hammering someone after you have allowed permissions.

Don't take it the wrong way, just an outside view on what you have posted, which may not even be the full story either.

Edit: I would be more concerned if it was an IP address you didn't know the source of.

I allowed permission for a day or two,(he said his DSL was down and would be up in a couple of days) last spring... Yes, I am concerned about malware... Again take a look at the two router pic's that show attached devices ... One taken this morning and the other taken late this afternoon... I knew something wasn't right but I never thought it was Miles... To tell the truth I was not concerned if he needed my connection again... But I'm seeing now that I have been his ISP since last spring...

If that is the case, and it has been a few months, what does your bandwidth with your ISP say, they would show your usage up greatly if this is the case, can you not access those?

I'm a heavy user, there no way they would see a difference ... And what do you think my ISP would say if I said I letting my neighbor join in... Come on... ...

I can check my usage by just logging into my account any time I want. You do not have that option?

I think we're going around in circles... A good lesson was learned, when someone asks if they can use your Internet connection, just say "NO",,,, It's that easy... Just look at this thread it went to what you think is going on with my connection ... to your an a hole and "Quit jumping to conclusions"... I'm moving on I have better things to do... Cheers,,, ,,,
