Backup, Updates, and Virus Protection

I need advice. I work for a small electrical company (35 people) and since I have the most computer experience they have entrusted me to setup the office network. We have about 8 laptops in the field with sprint cards and about 12 computers in the office. They want to make sure everyone has an updated computer, virus protection and the files are backed up. Especially when the laptop files. We have no servers in the office except for a terra file server.

thank you.

Do it right. Bring in some outside consultants.
