| Strong hose clamp or strap
A few weeks ago I was up my tower replacing a cat5 run, and while I was at the top I noticed some of my hose clamps holding one of my antenna up were broken. I have never seen a hose clamp break before, "mid band", not even at the perforated part.
I have to go back up and add some more clamps to this antenna, and does anyone know of an off the shelf can-get-at "some common store" strap or hose clamp thats stronger than a tridon clamp?
It has to be able to take 90 degree bends! Im thinking they broke because they were over tightened. |

I thought of using strapping similar to what they use to hold up street signs and lights on concrete poles. I dont know where to get it. |

1 edit | The antenna mast is a 1.75 inch round S shaped pipe, and Im fastening it to a flat side of the tower leg. The tower legs are L shaped with the corner of the "L" being the outside corner of the leg.

| reply to Inssomniak we have some of the banding and the tool to do it for street posts, its awesome, but expensive.
As far as mast to rails or posts go, we got some heavy duty ubolts with bite clamps out of some canopy 100 gear, its awesome, i use two bite clamps per ubolt and it offsets and bites perfect, no more turned antennas from hose clamps |

AMD Phreak Premium join:2003-12-14 | Steel banding is available from many places. Actually, stainless banding has been used on towers since the 50's. I've been on a site that has some stuff banded and it was built in 60-something and it still looks brand new. |

| reply to Inssomniak I had a guy locally fab up a mount for me to use on a couple of 60 degree angled towers. Basically its a standoff welded to a v flange that fits right into the angle and then has a couple of bars that bolt accross the back side of the leg to clamp it nice and snug. I will see if I can get a picture of this for you guys. |
