[F@H] FAH Client crashing error

The F@H client keeps crashing with a pop up window that says:

"F@H has run into a serious error running the core. F@H will now exit."

This has been happening for several days now. Any ideas?

Anything that might cause instability - over heating, over clocking, memory going bad or disk write errors.

Also, check task manager and verify that only one client is running out of the FAH folder. Multiples are usually caused by having one start as a service and starting another manually.

Yes, two different F@H things start in task manager when I start F@H. They are named differently and I can't keep them running long enough to see what they are.

I tried a repair install, that didn't do it, so I am going to uninstall and reinstall now.

Update: I have attempted an uninstall and hand removal of the directory in program files, but I am aware that there are hidden files somewhere that aren't uninstalled because after reinstalling all my settings are preset as before. I want to whipe the slate completely clean and try a reinstall, as I suspect a core process is broken. Where are the hidden files at: Vista 32.

EDIT: I have installed 5.03 to see how it runs because I suspect there is a problem or bug with the client itself. I'll see if it works for a while. In the mean time, can someone tell me where, directory wise, all the files reside with the current 6.2 version?

Latest update: After running version 5.03 for an hour, I went back to trying to run 6.2 and now it runs. Huh?

And yes, it seems my overclock is too much for the system at the moment, probably because I really need to apply fresh thermal compound, I've got to get around to it. I am running stock speed again, aww shoot! It's running 50 degrees without a load so I know it is too hot now.

What happened with the CPU being so hot is this, I think:

I am using a beautifully lapped Thermalright XP 120 heat sink and panaflo fan. Thermal compound is Coollaboratories Liquid Pro Liquid Metal.

Well: The HS sits over my RAM to where I end up struggling to fit my hands under the HS/F to get at the RAM in order to remove it to reseat it (I had suspicions of that as a cause to previous problems, but it turned out to be a power splitter cable, long story). While doing this some pressure went against the HS/F and that probably broke the seal of the compound and caused gaps and lack of good contact.

At some point in the coming weeks I'll remove, clean, and apply Arctic Silver 5 instead to see how it does.

I still suspect it was a software problem of some type, but who knows...
