Speedstream 5200 E240 and Xbox Live. MTU Failure.

I'm trying to get my Xbox connected to live and everytime I try, the MTU test fails. How do I remedy this? BTW, I won't be able to respond until tonight because i've got work, so in advancec, thanks for the help.

You change the MTU on your ethernet adapter.

Without knowing how the Xbox is connected to the single Ethernet connector 5200 Router, it is hard to determine why he is getting this error.

Ok, i'm back. Sorry about that. My ISP is FrontierNet. I'm trying to connect the Xbox 360 up the the internet via a hard line directly from the modem. I also have not been able to find an option to change the MTU for this particular modem.

Note, also, that people with Westell modems are reporting similar problems:

You don't change the Modem MTU as it is preset for the connection type. How are you setting up the Xbox? It should be setup with a Static IP as the 5200 handles PPPoE for the DSL.

You can get a simple 10/100 Multi-port Switch to share the DSL with your PC and the Xbox so you don't have to unplug one to use the other. The 5200 will support a bunch of PCs/consoles when you add extra ports using a Switch. No extra Router needed as the 5200 is a Router.

ibarney5, Wait till tomarrow to do a Connection test. With the 24h outage Xbox 360's (Even ones setup correctly) are reporting MTU Errors.

Did it work befor if so dont change anything until Xbox Live is back up.

If you had open NAT befor just see if your Xbox 360 is set to DHCP and also see if UPNP is set to "Enable full Internet Gateway Device (IGD) support" again if you were working fine befor dont change anything till Live is back up.

Which is it, either you don't change anything, or you check and change all the things you just posted. It can't be both.

BTW, you just learned of this from the link I posted in the Windstream Forum.

This it the first time i've tried to connect to Live. I've done everything in the above post, and I still get the MTU error. I'll wait until tomorrow to check it again. I'll get back to you then. Again, thanks for the help.

I said just see if those items were set (just to get an idea of his current setup) I didn't say change them, Wich is why I reinforced my point of not changing anything until live is back up and he can test then.
