| CDU-680 install issue
Using Windows XP, everytime I insert the modem into a USB port the computer reinstalls the modem, twice. It happens every single time.
Of course I'd like to install it once and then have Windows recognize it each time it is inseretd into a USB port.
What am I doing wrong? |

| Since the CDU-680 is also a storage card, every time you insert the device XP will recognize it as a external drive and open a window with contents. It should not install any thing when it does this. You should have to open a folder at that point to install drivers. Normally you just click through the open windows and then access the connection manager. -- ... need help? »evdo-tips.com/ |

@ndfconstruction.com | Yes, that is how it should work but instead, my computer recognizes it as new hardware and runs thru the whole new hardware installation, even though it has done a dozens of times already.
Thanks for your reply by the way! |

| I've had this happen. Not every time, but once in a while it does it. Since I have to have the modem in for Windows to boot now though, I don't worry about it. I'm trying to still figure out why Windows won't boot without the modem plugged in. -- Windows XP Pro SP2|AMD Athlon 64 FX-57|2GB Dual Channel RAM|2x GeForce 7950 GT 512MB|250GB HDD |

| DMARKS: Look in your computer's BIOS setup and see what the boot order is. You might have it set to boot from removeable media. Set the boot order so that your main hard drive is the #1 boot device. To access the BIOS, on most computers you press the DEL key while it is booting. Other computers use F10, or F2 or some other key. Watch the screen carefully on bootup and it will tell you what key to press to get into the setup. Boot order is generally on the advanced options menu, which varies from unit to unit, so explore and if you think you painted yourself into some unknown corner just ESC your way out and don't save anything. -- Franklin CDU680/Assent MBR400 combo, CAY1912 panel antenna, Millenicom, 4 XPPro stations, Mozilla everywhere. |

| Maybe it's a power issue on my system front usb connected to mb via header and cable back usb connected directly to mb. Solved my probs though. side note my computer won't boot with ipod plugged in front usb either will show no hdd and not boot. Pull ipod and boots fine. |

| This is really a kind of stupid question but I have to ask it anyway: have you checked the leads from your front panel USB to the mb header to see if they are in the right order? Maybe your front USB is cross-connected. -- Franklin CDU680/Assent MBR400 combo, CAY1912 panel antenna, Millenicom, 4 XPPro stations, Mozilla everywhere. |
