| How do I FTP a web page to Shaw using iWeb???
I created a web page on my Mac using iWeb but have had trouble uploading it to my Shaw web space. First, I published my web page to a folder. Then I used iWeb's FTP process. This does not work. Shaw tech support can't help me.
Is there anyone out there who has had success with this? |

Other than that...does iWeb return any error messages? [Besides a general "failed to upload" message]. |

| Yes, of course I am using my correct username and password. I uploaded it using FPT software Cyberduck, but when I go to my webspace it's the same default webpage that Shaw created. I phoned Shaw and spoke to 2 technicians who hadn't a clue how to help me. Nor could I be put through to ANYONE with the required expertise.
Not only that, the Shaw chatline doesn't support Mac users. I sure hope this company brings itself out of the dark ages one day soon. |

| The Shaw webspace is considered a value added service which isn't supported in any way other than it existing (much like their newsgroups), and as such, nobody within tech support would know how to resolve your issue lest they had played around with it themselves on their own time.
I've never tried this myself, but since the default shaw page on members webspace is located in an html file called home.html, replacing that file with your own html file (your 'main' page) should do the trick. |

| If you could tell me how to replace the page, I'd be in business. Obviously it has to be uploaded to the Shaw server - and I've done that through File Transfer Protocol. My files are sitting somewhere on the Shaw site, but how to bring them into my web space continues to be a mystery.
I think that if Shaw is going to offer a service, they should have some people who know something about it... or at the very least, publish some decent help files. I guess not many customers use web space, which I think is strange. Once there is more demand, Shaw might train their people accordingly. I can only hope. |

| reply to Japonica If it's the default page that Shaw generated, then you need to delete index.html off your webspace. You should be able to do that in Cyberduck.
If you goto »members.shaw.ca/yourusername/ it will load up whatever index.html is. |

| I just discovered this on the Shaw site:
"Currently you cannot upload any custom pages to the Shaw Webspace service."
Bingo. It would have been nice if someone had TOLD me that. I have wasted hours trying to accomplish something that can't be done. |

1 edit | Personally I would just use an FTP client or windows explorer to log into my account and replace home.html with one of my own choosing. Should work without issue.
...aaaaaaand I just tested it myself, and it does, in fact, work without issue. |
