Shaw finally emailed me back and said there is packet loss (not a big surprise to me). So they have scheduled a tech for Thursday to replace my modem and "check some cables".

Country hills area. On the 5mb/512kbps package. The download speed is perfect except the upload speed has been horrid the past week and a half.

The upload speed isn't consistent. I can't even upload a file (no not bittorrent) without it:

a) timing out
b) starts out at 70-100kbps then it slows down to dial-up speed or worse (i don't have speedboost)

Troubleshooting I've done:

A) Bypassing my router
B) I've tried other computers. It is the same result on those computers as well. Fast download/horrible upload.

Honestly I wouldn't mind it going 200-230kbps if it was a sustained speed and didn't time out 80% of the time.

It doesn't matter what time of day it is either.

Any advice or ideas?
