| BEWARE of WILDBLUE FRAUD
I'd like to let everyone know my experience with WILD BLUE. I feel they have committed fraud. It started Aug 2007. The service started going in and out. My mother would call to let them know the service had gone out at least 3 times a month after Aug. When in Dec 2007 it went out completely. When she called they told her they would send her a new modem free of charge since that was the problem. She couldn't get on the internet at all!! When the modem arrived 2 wks later, she noticed a charge on her debit card for $300.00. When she called to ask what the charge was for, they told her "the modem." She told them what she was originally told - that the modem would be free. They said there was no note of that on the account. They said if she didn't want to be charged she could send the modem back and they would refund the cost of the modem once they received it. They received it in the beginning of Jan 2008 but it is now Sep 2008 & they have yet to refund the money. During that conversation where they said they'd refund the money in the latter part of Dec we explained to them since their service wasn't working & they were gonna charge us for a modem we didn't want or have any longer we did not want to have service with them anymore. That was the last we heard from them until May 2008 when I received a collections letter. They stated our account was past due and I owed them $600.00. I called to let them know they made a mistake, that we canceled our service in Dec 2007. They said they had no record of that. I explained to them that I did cancel our service & if they would look, they would notice our usage was nonexistent since we didn't have a modem to use their internet service as of the beginning of Dec 2007. They told me they'd call me back within 2wks because they needed to research it. And if they didn't call, everything was fine. Since then, I have checked my credit report & they have reported me owing them over $700.00 now. Dealing with them is ridiculous!!! The fact that they can get away with this is outrageous!!! |

| not saying this in a mean way, but.. we know.
they suck, hundreds of people who "canceled" their service post here saying they were getting screwed afterwards, one guy I know canceled and everything was fine then a whole *year* later all of a sudden a 70 charge comes out of nowhere from them, hoping he would not notice or something.
they need to be busted big time, my advice is to get out the best you can with minimal losses.. sorry that you got screwed, I hate people/companies that are so cheap that they get away with things that are barely legal, how can they live with themselves? In my view those people are completely useless in life and will never ever earn my honorable respect. -- I have had Direcway/Hughes for years. I've had trouble with them some until the latest system DW7000. It is blazing fast 1 to 1.5 kbps down most of the time- Kath159 |

| reply to stagai Hmmm....one thing people need to keep in mind is WHO exactly are you dealing with? WB sells their product via several venues, but they themselves do not sell their product. You have electrical coops, and the master distributors, then you have Dish, AT&T, etc.
I had a great experience for the few years I had WB through my local electrical coop. They billed me monthly, and I paid them. When I moved on to something else, it was over...
When I used to hang out on this forum I ALWAYS used to harp on the fact that it all depends on WHO you buy the product from. Again, if your LOCAL coop sells the product, that is ALWAYS your best choice for post sale service.

| reply to stagai I was going DIRECTLY through Wildblue and they are STILL trying to put the screws to me for almost $500.00. For services I shut off in MAY after 2yrs on a 1yr contract. They are worse than Starband or Sprint... actually they are worse than ANY company I have dealt with. I need to get an attorney. |

| reply to stagai Thank you Steve for taking care of this for me. My problem is solved thanks to Steve for checking into it for me. For anyone else just watch your account.. I hope the few that have been aired out here are accidents that Wildblue finds the answer to and corrects so it does not happen to others.
Thanks Steve,

| reply to stagai I guess large corps have a problem in identifying their clients. If the computer says you owe, you owe. You owe even if you don't owe.
I had a similar problem only they kept crediting me with vast amounts of credit for overpayments. It was outrageous. I called out of honesty to tell them NO! NO! You do not owe me this money! I had a total of 2 years of constant credits and never would be able to pay a bill without it being re-credited to my account. Basically, I was getting paid to use the services.
I finally stopped trying to convince them. Another year went by with free and credited service.
Finally one day I get an email telling me that I have used up all my credits and that I now owe them 87 cents!
I quickly paid it.
I have since never gotten any more credits.
OH!
One More Thing:
I have not gotten another bill either.
Hope you get your stuff fixed up.
see ya..

| reply to stagai I went through a horror story with Wildblue as well (granted this was quite some time ago) at the beginning of 2006 I had the service where I used to live and it worked great until May when a storm rolled through which knocked out the service. I called Wildblue tech support after it failed to reconnect ... they sent a new modem which took two months to get. It turns out the modem wasn't the problem so they sent four different installers and finally the last one just said I would have to wait for the new satellite, well that was kind of BS I thought. The funny thing is during those times I was told that "no installers were in my area" yet one magically appeared.
Anyway I was getting charged $80 a month while not having a working connection. I stopped payment and was able to get out of the mess. |
