Higher profile possible?

2wire stats
Ok, just got a 2wire 2700 from eBay and all seems to be working well. Seems to have nearly doubled my downstream SNR from 7 to 13 (upstream SNR still low and unchanged).

I'm currently on 2496/640 interleaved profile. Based on the stats, 3008 downstream seems possible. Is there a 3008/640 profile?

Stats included.

There's a 3008/512 profile if you're willing to sacrifice more upstream. I wouldn't recommend it, although it might improve stability if you're having such issues; your upstream is really closer to the RCO.

Thanks Guspaz. I am now on the 3008/512 fastpath profile and loving it. Connection seems rock solid and the lower ping rates are definitely noticeable even with basic browsing (been on interleave for so long!).

For those with less than perfect lines, I would strongly urge you to give the 2wire modem a try - $20 on eBay so minimal risk. Couldn't dream of a 3M profile with previous modems. This baby doubled my downstream SNR from 7 to 14 and even slightly lowered the attenuation. Took a bit of a hit on the upstream but it's worth it.

Out of curiosity, what is the next profile with a higher downstream?

There's 3488/800kbit (the old "Ultra" tier), but apparently they don't like using that anymore (also, neither your upstream nor your downstream support it).

The next step up from there is 4032/800 and 4032/512, which is higher than your line supports on the downstream in either case (your line supports only about 3300-3400 downstream, won't sync higher).

Yeah the 2wire rocks.

I figured I couldn't go any higher but just wanted to see if I was "close" to another profile. Though with my distance from the CO, I'm counting my blessings for the 3M profile.

The 2wire does rock. Too bad I didn't get it sooner.

What modem did you have before the 2wire?

Had a Dlink DSL2320B for quite a while and a Speedstream 5200 E240 before that. Both are solid modems but the 2wire blew them away.
