What is the replacement plan for $39.99? For that price it might be worth it unless they only replace it with a refurbished unit.

UPS just brought the set into my kitchen, wasn't that nice of the guy.
If it came via UPS and a thousand tiny pieces didn't fall out when you opened the box, consider yourself lucky!

Setup the image PQ is more of a pain, but I got it work on these 2008 sets. Free shipping.. UPS just brought the set into my kitchen, wasn't that nice of the guy. Even made a second trip instead of coming out the next day. I wasn't in on the first attempt.

NiB

Am I correct in assuming that this model is at the end of manufacture?
Probably.
doesn't make it a bad set though.
course if its EOL'd there probably won't be any firmware updates and parts will be harder to get than a currently in production set.

I would say that is a fair assumption.

Is this a good deal for this HDTV? I'm shopping around some for a new flat screen and found this advertised at the Coast Guard Exchange. That's the cost out the door, no sales tax at the exchange.
NiB untouched or is it a refurb?

I've got one of those. That's a nice price and a decent set. They are running about $1000 + - now on Amazon plus shipping.

I haven't had any problems since I got it last December and it doesn't have any of the banding issues that some of the larger Sharp models have had.
