| My opinion is closed to your. Main Sandboxie advantage is - using less of system resources. |

| reply to foxsteve These are not even comparable products. Sandboxie prevents infections by browser exploit. Deepfrizeeze protects entire partitions from permanent modification of any kind. -- I spent most of my money on Women and Beer, and the rest I just wasted ! |

| reply to foxsteve Another one I use is returnil can come in handy and I think you still can get the beta but with it active no changes can be made when its on and after you reboot back to your old system. Great for testing!

| reply to foxsteve I'm not well versed on Sandboxie, but I tested some rootkits against Deep Freeze a few months back. Deep Freeze generally handled them very well, with the exception of MBRKit. MBRKit bypassed Deep Freeze very easily, as well as Windows SteadyState. -- QUAD!!!! |

If i wasnt so lazy, i would have DeepFreeze and Sandboxie both. |

| reply to foxsteve I use Deepfreeze on my laptop. After making sure my system is CLEAN, I used Deepfreeze to freeze it.
To test it, I disabled my firewall and anti virus. Went on crack sites, porn sites, etc..
I got popups that would not go away along with other things that slowed my system down to a crawl.
Did a reboot, and everything was back to normal.
I'm a firm believer in Deepfreeze. |

| reply to foxsteve We've been using Deep Freeze at the college where I work for at least four years now. We've have it installed on 99% of the student systems and it's great! It keeps any permanent changes from being written to the hard drive while the installed OS is up and running, except for a special "thawed space" where files could be saved. We have never had to clean up a system protected by Deep Freeze, and I can remember only one incident where we had to reload one, and that's when one of our programming student's tried to see how far they could push it. On the other hand we've had to clean up and reload numerous staff computers because of "unauthorized changes". Normally we just freeze a system and it doesn't need to be touched again by IT until it either needs updating or a new image. For the enterprise version, freezing and thawing of systems as well as product installation can be done from a server console. The system overhead by the way is very small. I don't know anything about sandboxie. -- DAMOX Proud to be a member of Team Discovery |

| reply to foxsteve I'd go with sandboxie for personal computers and deep freeze for public systems.
The last time I tried a virutalization product like Deep Freeze, it was actually using Comodo's new Disk Shield and although it was beta, it literally added about 10 minutes to my boot time on an older laptop.
Plus I'm not sure having to virtualise an entire partition would be as convienent as just sandboxing specific applications.
I use sandboxie. It's light and the support is great. Well worth the registration cost. |

| reply to foxsteve Hi, Wilder's has some great discussions of virtualization in many settings and is a great place to do some research on the subject. Though this thread is about programs that compete with DeepFreeze, it gives a great overview of what these programs do:
There is also a general discussion of the differences between application and system level approaches...
