Seems like Bresnan DNS is no longer redirecting to ask.com

Lately I have been using Bresnan DNS while I had bind9 offline. I notice on domain not found errors that I get the Firefox default domain not found error and am no longer being redirected to ask.com. If Bresnan really has stopped domain not found error redirects then this is good news.

Has anybody else noticed or am I merely late to the party.

Edit: Ummm... maybe it was the myway site.

A friend in Billings is still getting it. It REALLY ticks her off.

I still don't have it here in the Powell market/Billings PoP (using Cheyenne as a link between Powell and Billings) after I made the changes that I mentioned in my previous thread.

Off topic, but what I don't understand about Bresnan's routing is that to get a packet from Powell to Cody, a 25 mile drive, it has to go from Powell, to Cheyenne, to Billings, then to Cody. Cody has a direct link to Billings but Powell, 25 miles closer to Billings, has to go through Cheyenne first on the complete opposite side of the state, then back past Powell to Billings in both outbound and inbound packets. The same route to Cheyenne is used whether the packet is internet bound or just internal Bresnan packets 25 miles away. I am beginning to wonder if this may be one factor in my problems with Bresnan.

Hmmm.. looks like it varies by market then. Hopefully they will stop redirects in other markets as well. Maybe the recent DNS vulnerability had something to do with it.

Let me rephrase that. They still do the ask.com redirect here in the Powell market, but I have my network set up so that it doesn't do it.
