Delayed Ringing of the phone used with Simultaneous Ring

This is a new problem to me. Happened twice last night from two different numbers.
Received the call, was talking for 10 - 15 seconds when my cell phone started ringing with an incoming call from the person I was talking to. The cell phone rang until the cell phone voicemail answered, (no message left of course). I received several other calls with normal Simultaneous Ring between the problem calls. Any one else seeing this?

Re: Delayed Ringing of the phone used with Simultaneous Ring

Most of the time my simul-ring cell phone rings way after the VT phone. This is explained by the delay the cellular system needs to locate your phone, send the call to your phone and your phone respond.

Make a phone call to your phone from a landline.
If you have CDMA (Verizon, Sprint, Alltel), you hear ring back immediately, you phone will ring after 2-8 seconds (based on CDMA slot index for your network).
If you have a GSM phone (ATT, T-Mobile), you will hear silence until the system locates your phone and the ring-back coincides with the actual ringing on the handset.

In both cases, the cell phone rings later then a landline/VOIP phone.

In the 15 or so months I have had VT I have never had the problem you describe, the Verizon cell phone has always rung less than a second after the VT line ringing. The same was true when I had Packet8. The condition I reported above is a new problem I have not see before.

Edit to note Verizon cell phone.

Re: Delayed Ringing of the phone used with Simultaneous Ring

Personally, I've seen this a lot. I have a Sprint phone which rings about a second or two after my VT line when set as my simul-ring number. My wife has a T-Mobile phone which can take 10-12 seconds to ring, so we don't use it much as the simultaneous ring number.

I have T-Mobile and it takes about 10 seconds to ring; usually the mobile rings after the VT line has rung a couple of times.

What shouldn't have happened is for the mobile to have rung after having picked up the VT line. When the VT line was picked up, the simul-ring should have been canceled. Ghost in the machine ?
