| ViaTalk still scamming.
Well... now I even returned the box, and all wires, power cords, etc. And they STILL are charging me. The latest charge $50.00
I think they are up to a total of 4 or 5 chargebacks with American Express.
AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. |

| Here's a link to the original story where the CEO posted my home phone number, etc.
Seriously, the crap service is only the start with them. Not only are the junk, but then they keep charging your card LOOOOOOOOOONG after you get rid of them.

| reply to CrazyPete All right! CrazyPete is back!
Hopefully, I do not end up as CrazyDigger.
I canceled my account last month and was politely told to send back the PAP2, etc..., which I did, by FedEx, and I have verification of delivery. That was 2 weeks ago but I never got any sort of confirmation from ViaTalk.
I just e-mailed them last night to make sure my account was in fact now canceled and that I owed them nothing. I hope to get a confirmation reply today.
One thing I did do before canceling was to change my credit card information to some fictitious number hoping that the system was too stupid to discern it was fake, so that any wrong charges would fall into the ether.
We'll see how it goes.

| Viatalk recevied it on Sept. 15.
I already filed the dispute, so it'll be another $15 (or whatever they are charged by their merchant services) that they lose, in addition to letting the entire internet community know what con artists they are. |

| reply to CrazyPete Actually at this point it is fun. Amex asked if they should block ViaTalk. I said, no -- this way each time they try to put something on the card I can file a dispute and they have to pay a fee.
Let them keep trying. Once I have a bunch more charges I'll put it all up on a blog and show everyone how long they let it drag on and on and on and on.
I figure they will probably be out of business by then... |

It is charged when you call to cancel, and then will be refunded back. Obviously it is taking a while for the refund.
Doing a chargeback on that fee would be silly as it is blatantly stated in the TOS. But then again considering the past thread, anything is possible. -- "A religious war is like children fighting over who has the strongest imaginary friend."

| reply to CrazyPete Yeah. Considering this "game" they have been playing has been going on since MAY!
You would have thought that after the 10th notice to cancel and the 3rd or so charge-back they would have figured it out.
I guess they need to "borrow" the money that badly where they are willing to pay $15 to borrow $50 for two weeks.
Silly people. Silly criminals.
AVOID VIATALK - THEY ARE CON ARTISTS. |

| If they had canceled the service when I asked them to in MAY this would not even be an issue. But they insist on screwing around.
They want to play games -- I'll play games. The problem is they won't win in the end. The longer they drag it out, the more money it will cost them. At this point they should pay me for my time and trouble to make this right. |

what they are risking the loss of is their credit processor may stop processing charges if the number of chargebacks becomes excessive. of course, that'll only screw every other VT customer out there. so do us all a favor and just have amex block them. -- Compare how Obama and McCain have voted on issues that matter to you. | Hi,
When an account is canceled and the adapter is to be returned, a $50 debit is placed on the account. If the adapter is returned and processed before the accounts next billing date, that charge is voided out. If it comes in and is processed after, the charge is refunded.

My hypothesis of what's most likely happening is he disputed the initial (legitimate) charge, and thought it would be instantly reversed. When it wasn't, he disputed it, but your system re-charged him to make sure everything was still the way it was supposed to be. -- Compare how Obama and McCain have voted on issues that matter to you. No because they aren't keeping the $50. They have to return the $50 PLUS pay the chargeback fee. So it costs the $15 to borrow the money PLUS the risk of having trouble with the merchant account. |
