Who pays for these JD Powers studies? Anyone know? Been hearing them give their opinion about everything for years. -- Who is Jesus? and Why it matters (to YOU).

| reply to Shamayim said by Shamayim :Who pays for these JD Powers studies? JD Powers is like the Better Business Bureau. Companies pay them to promote the feel good/warm fuzzies about them. These studies are nothing but talking points written by the PR/Marking departments of the corporations looking to disseminate pure myth about themselves. |

You are making this up and pulling it out of your ass. The most minimal scan of the reference I gave shows you that they conduct actual surveys and report the results. |

1 edit | reply to SilverSurfer This is simply not true. J.D. Power pays for the studies themselves in advance and the data is collected from consumers in the market place via fairly lengthy surveys (I get one every time I buy a new car). They aren't the opinion of the companies or J.D. Power. Revenue is then generated from selling the results of the studies (which are of interest to all the companies in that market segment whether they score high or low). They also get revenue from licensing logos to those companies who HAPPEN TO win an award. |

JD Powers is the kind outfit who are just the same as the folks the ISPs pay to conduct studies on BB penetration in the U.S. and we all know how accurate those studies are, don't we. |

| reply to SilverSurfer You can believe whatever you want, but that doesn't make your belief true.
JD Power tends to study markets they know they can sell into, but the results are as statistically valid as any other sampled study. -- Toolmaster of La Grange. |

1 edit | reply to Dogfather said by Dogfather :J.D. Power isn't an astroturf outfit. Based on what evidence to the contrary of? The fact that every time you buy a vehicle you complete one of their surveys? Big deal. If you've ever gone randomly clicking tither & yon on the Internet, you'd find an infinite supply of "consumer surveys" just like J.D. Powers uses. BTW - surveys in and of themselves yield the result their sponsors want. Most "consumer" questions are typically in the following format:
How much do you like your Nexus?
A. A lot B. A real lot C. A real real lot D. If it had a vagina, I'd hit it.
Notice how the wording of the question guarantees a favorable response for the product.
J.D. Powers is nothing but a reacharound to the companies that pay for their services to promote the warm fuzzies about their products. Realistically speaking, these surveys don't mean squat. |

2 edits | You've obviously never seen a J.D. Power survey. I've completed MANY and they aren't biased in any way shape or form and they're very detailed in all aspects of ownership, from quality of the vehicle to quality of the buying experience.
Meanwhile your claims of them getting paid off are totally unsubstantiated. You make the claim of wrong doing and bribery, back it up. How much is the cable industry paying you to defend them? |
