Thank you for the update, Ron. Rebekah has been very much on my mind, and I am so pleased that she is doing well.

Will be keeping all of you in my prayers. I hope that you have a chance to get some decent naps now and then... hopefully Hannah will run out of steam and decide to sleep and give you folks a chance to, as well!

I'm very happy to hear she went through surgery and is fighting along! Take some Vitamin B complex, it will keep you going without sleep!

Bless the child, she has been through so much. Prayers continue.

I don't check in for just a little bit, and things start rockin' and rollin' for Rebekah. Great news! I am glad she was able to receive her new heart, and that she made it through the surgery. I am sure she will make a speedy recovery. She continues to be in my thoughts.

Wonderful news!!! Glad to hear that Becca came through the surgery so well! She'll be up and around in no time at all; the young heal so much more quickly than all of us old farts!

I am sooo happy that Rebekah got her new heart and that things are going well! Lots of good thoughts and prayers going up for Rebekah and the rest of the family! Ron, know the ups and downs with organ transplants. I know it is a a little bit different with the heart transplant than a kidney transplant. Hang on as it can be a roller coaster ride getting all the medications regulated.

Kristi

P.S. How did I miss this thread????

Oh gosh, Ron, just saw this thread with such momentous news. Wishing all the best for Rebekah.

As I am sure that you are aware, transplant technology and surgery has improved quite dramatically over the years. Loma Linda University Hospital near us has regular reunions of transplant recipients. A recent story in our local paper about such a reunion had pictures of several transplant recipients of 10 or more years, all appearing to be in the pink of health. I am sure that Becca will do well.

Excellent news except for the lack of sleep.
That sounds like a luxury you will have eventually.

More prayer.
I'll even pray for all to feel refreshed without the need for sleep!

I hope you are getting good rest now. Thanks for taking the time to give us an update, just the one we wanted to hear.

She'll catch up with school when the time comes. For now she has much more important things to do.

Still praying and hoping for the very best for our little Becca.

We are tired. She received her new heart this morning and was transferred to PICU about 11AM. So far she is doing just fine with the new heart. She has tubes coming out everywhere you can imagine but these will be removed over the next seven to ten days and she is expected to be home in about three weeks. She will not be able to go back to school until after the first of the year so as to keep her from being exposed to disease. Meanwhile, they will monitoring her and treating her blood to be sure she does not reject the new heart.

We have Hannah, her younger sister to babysit so neither one of us will have had any sleep for about 40 hours. That is a first for me, I am used to getting some sleep every day.
