As I am sure that you are aware, transplant technology and surgery has improved quite dramatically over the years. Loma Linda University Hospital near us has regular reunions of transplant recipients. A recent story in our local paper about such a reunion had pictures of several transplant recipients of 10 or more years, all appearing to be in the pink of health. She received her new heart this morning and was transferred to PICU about 11AM. So far she is doing just fine with the new heart. She has tubes coming out everywhere you can imagine but these will be removed over the next seven to ten days and she is expected to be home in about three weeks. She will not be able to go back to school until after the first of the year so as to keep her from being exposed to disease. Meanwhile, they will monitoring her and treating her blood to be sure she does not reject the new heart.

We have Hannah, her younger sister to babysit so neither one of us will have had any sleep for about 40 hours. That is a first for me, I am used to getting some sleep every day.
