[Newsgroups] Comcast canceling newsgroups!

Yeah, just got an email from them too. What ever happened to a contract? We signed on with newsgroups included, and now they take them away? I know they reserve the right to alter terms of the contract at any point (what is the point of the contract, as a set of promises between two parties) by yanking the newsgroup feature?

So what is Wow about, and where do I check for availability?

I love the special Comcast promotion price. It's the same as the regular price but makes it sound special.

dadkins, the e-mail Comcast sent out had this. "Giganews is offering a special promotion for Comcast customers." Well looking at the special promotion $7.99 for 2GB. The regular price is $7.99 for 2GB. Looks special to me.

Man, I just got this email today too and am pissed about it. Yeah most people don't use much less even know about the usenet, but I did. Used up that 2GB of newsgroup access every month and was always looking forward to the 25th every month when it would reset again. I certainly got use out of it and just gives me more reason to LOATHE that company. F'n monopoly. I'd dump these asshats in a heartbeat if I were able to get anything else.

I just called Verizon. They still offer newsgroup access as part of a subscription. Along with the rate hike Comcast posted for 11/1 my rate went from $127/mo. to $185/mo. Goodbye Comcast, Hello FiOS!!!

If you don't mind my asking, where has Comcast posted rate hikes?

Mass mailing this week here in Maryland.

You know the sneaky little change of terms notice that they figure one in ten people will bother to even open.

This really gets to me since in the Chicago Market we pay a premium to get Blast. I'm paying more than what the base business class costs.

I'm finished with Comcast ASAP...which is when I have some competition get here.
